Our Commitment is Rooted in Three Key Values
Purpose-driven partnerships
Charity support
Whether it be gift cards, handmade baskets or even a spot to sit on our lawn to raise awareness, we regularly support all kinds of fundraisers and local charities.
Weekly donations
Each week, Nettie's goes beyond our usual baking. We lovingly prepare additional loaves of bread, along with an array of seasonal specialties, to donate to Saint John's Evangelical Church and Kings Kids Christian Outreach to be distributed to those in need.
Annual events
We're excited to remain a big part of local traditions each year by donating all the poundcake for the beloved Strawberry Shortcake Festival, benefitting the CMFD, and providing all the rolls for the Moriches Rotary's annual Oktoberfest.
Donating leftovers
We package up any leftover bread and pastries in the store each weekend, along with we regularly overproduce, to donate to those in need.
Recipe optimization
Our recipes reuse as much as possible such as cutoff cake tops being part of our crumb buns or cupcake pieces being used as part of other recipes.
Biodegradable materials
We use sustainable materials including pans, packing materials, coffee cups, lids, and straws, and paper shopping bags.
Fossil fuel reliance
We have decreased our reliance upon fossil fuels in our supply chain by sourcing products locally and regionally, producing on site, and we introduced electric heat pumps to help keep the bakery warm during the colder months.
Recycling
We recycle our cardboard and plastic bottles. Plastic films are set aside and brought to our local library to be recycled into benches for the community to use.
